The Cavaliers’ pre-season kicked off on Saturday with 21 players old and new training at Clifton Park before supporting the 1st and 3rd team game.

A solid session led by ex-Army PTI Nick Kuba saw contact and fitness drills topped off with some touch and pass. Some of the Cavs then went on to play for the Gladiators team who narrowly lost out to Hull Ionians 3s 22-25. Partners and children came along too to watch the games and the bouncy castle was a hit – especially as the weather was kind.

Cavs’ Skipper Chris Clegg said ‘A great turnout for pre-season training – something we haven’t seen in the Cavs for a good few years! Let’s hope we can capitalise on the numbers for the first game of the season against Harrogate Pirates on Saturday 30th September. With a new social sponsor in local builder Daz Thompson, and new playing kit thanks to sponsors The Gillygate Pub, Zimbo Landscaping & Construction and the Quality Street Gang, we’re ready for a successful season’.
