New Forwards and Backs Coaches for 2018-19

After a successful first season of friendlies, the team are back to training and hard at work to prepare for their entry into the Womens NC North 2 East league.

A big thanks to Toby Atkin who coached us through our first year and helped lay the foundations of a solid team. We wish him good luck in his future endeavours!

This year, we welcome two new coaches to the team: David Norman as forwards coach and Tom Heppleston as backs coach.

David first came across rugby at the age of 11 and subsequently played for numerous age groups and county selection games, before heading off to join the British Army. David has been exposed to several talented and skillful players and coaches throughout his continued 23 year military tenure and continues to grow rugby within the military here at York. In 2015 David successfully completed his Rugby Ready and Scrum Factory pathway and was recently involved in a military tour of New Zealand and Fiji in the year of the British and Irish Lions of 2017.

Tom joined York RUFC at 10 years old, making the transfer from Yorkshire U15s to Colts. He's then played at a variety of senior 1st XV Clubs : York, Harrogate, Rossyln Park and Weybridge Vandals. Since then, he has coached Weybridge 1st XV Backs, Colts and is the current York RUFC Tour Manager.

With the first match less than a month away, it looks set to be an exciting year!

If you'd like to join us, training is on Wednesday evenings 7.30-9.00pm and Sunday afternoons 2.00-4.00pm.
