A new format proved very successful and raised £800 for St Leonard's Hospice.

York RUFC youth section ended their season in style with Presentations and a Charity Fun day on Sunday 6th May.
Almost 200 players from the U6 – U12 age groups received medals for being part of their respective squads and then enjoyed a session of Touch rugby and races through a Giant Inflatable Assault course.

Along side this, the U15 squad hosted a touring squad from Wigan in a thrilling game which saw the visitors score in the last minute to win 19-21.
York Women then played Northallerton Women in a very open running game with the hosts comfortably coming out on top 46 – 5.
Finally, a scratch squad of Dads, Brothers & Coaches took on York Cavaliers in an open running game which saw the Dads narrowly defeated 20-17.

Club spokesman John Atkin said “ This is a new event for the club and has clearly been a success showcasing the breadth of talent at the club, both male & female, aged 6 to 52 ! On one of the hottest days of the year for players past & present to get their boots on for a good cause is a great achievement and to raise over £800 for St Leonards Hospice is the icing on the cake.”

The new season for the youth section starts on Sunday 2nd September.
