Alnwick with the wind behind them, were awarded a penalty on the 22m right in front of the posts and Moir kicked the goal, after 3 minutes. Almost immediately after the restart Dan Evans collected an overthrow at the line out he made a clear 50m, this was a sign of things to come.
Liam Hessay, who had a great game in attack and defence entered the line, linking up with Will Fordy who had broken the defensive line to give a clear run for him to score in the corner. There then saw Alnwick awarded a series of penalties bringing them to the York try line and the subsequent line out maul was driven for Comber to score. Straight from the kick off the lively Dan Evans was quick off the mark to steal the ball and make twenty metres, the ball was recycled quickly to the elusive left wing Peplinski who raced to score in the corner, Shackleton converting from the touch line.

Sam Croft then began his magic making a break, Will Fordy supporting to continue the movement finding Joe Maud who raced 45m to score under the posts, Harry Shackleton converting. Then began the Sam Croft show, he latched onto a loose ball, to leave all in his wake galloping 60 metres, nobody touching him as he went under the posts for Shackleton to convert. But there was more to come Liam Hessay attacking a high ball in a positive manner to find the energetic Croft on his shoulder this time going 45 metres to score by the posts, Shackleton adding the extras. A series of errors from the visitors allowed Shackleton to take an advantage down a narrow blindside, going for the corner to score from 35 metres. York now are firmly in the driving seat as halftime approached.

Turning around @ York 38 - Alnwick 8, the visitors then rally and are able to retain possession leading to an unconverted try, they are now playing into the strong breeze. York are again dominating and managing to hold the ball working it up the field, we then are treated to some delightful footwork from the left wing Peplinski as he turns his opponent inside out to score under the posts, Harry Shackleton converts. York now ring the changes as the game seems get away from Alnwick, the York scrum taking charge, then Alnwick hit back with concerted pressure on the York line for Farmer to force his way over.

From the kick off a handling error sees a scrum on the Alnwick 22m it is on the left hand side, giving Joe Maud time to pick from the base cross the gain line to find Matt Ferguson on his inside to dash untouched under the posts, a perfect demonstration. Just when we think it is all over the plucky Alnwick come back with a couple of scrambled tries to secure a well deserved bonus point, as York take their foot off the accelerator, not before another well worked try for Liam Hessay who joined the line selling a dummy to score in the corner.
Final score York 57 - Alnwick 28.

What a spectacle for our spectators to finish what has been a fabulous season, there have been ups and downs. I think we should be proud of our Team and our Coaches, a big thank you.
