One of those great days for open rugby. We set off really well with a try from Stefan after 2 minutes. We occupied territory and a had a scrum that was so dominating - but making unforced errors just pushing that final pass. Sadly, this led to an interception by the Morley 7 who sprinted 90 metres to score under the posts. We then tightened up to score twice more before halftime to lead 19-7. A Morley yellow card just before half time allowed us to produce a very impressive period, producing quality set plays followed by excellent quick phase ball, moving the ball wide. We learned that we had to earn the right to go wide - our centres and big forward ball carriers enabling this to happen. Last week saw us not supporting good carries; this week we learned, working hard on Thursday to rectify this. This produced a blindside and forwards getting around the corner linking up with backs.
This is quality rugby - simple to execute our goals and to score tries. The negative was we gave away too many penalties - unforced errors and too many missed tackles led to conceding two second half scores to the Morley backs who so improved in the second half.
A really good effort from the whole team; a big thank you to all!
