Nestlé Rowntree win York derby
THE lead swung back and forth before Nestlé Rowntree RUFC clinched a 36-29 victory over York Cavaliers.
York struck first when centre James Mulroney crossed after a quickly taken lineout, Dave Murray converting.
But ’Trees stormed back to lead 21-7 with tries from back rows Chris Moores and Dom O’Sullivan with centre Ian Henderson also getting in on the act. All were converted by John Atkin.
York hit back with a flurry of three tries in eight minutes, John Gilbody getting a brace and Sam Greatorex crossing to give them a one point half-time lead.
Atkin put Nestlé in the lead with a penalty only for York number eight Willem Estenil to dive under the posts for Murray to convert.
’Trees replied immediately – Moores powering over for his second try, and Atkins’ fourth conversion, before O’Sullivan grabbed his own second try on the final whistle.
