York beats Middlesborough

We should have played both Middlesbrough and Rotherham Titans but ended up only playing Middlesbrough.

There were enough York boys so we were able to field two teams who each played a full game. Middlesborough were a strong side and all our York boys had a real appetite to win (and were awake from the start!).

It was great to see that the Saturday training paid off with both York teams keeping their shape and kept to their positions when not involved in the rucks/mauls. All players worked together tackling a very physical Middlesbrough side and the defending around the edges of the rucks was very good. This resulted in York winning both games convincingly.

Lots of try scorers (unfortunately not all noted down) but two that really stood out for me were a great overlap created by Ed and Harry C to score a try in the corner and Connor’s try after some excellent work by the forwards in the scrum.

The great result really lifted all the boys (and parents) on a cold but sunny Winter’s day. Let’s all try and keep up this outstanding play!
