First Game
The strenuous activities from the previous day had not diminished the York players enthusiasm, which was just as well as the Huddersfield lads were strapping fellows. The contest in the scrums, rucks and mauls was fierce and York forwards had to work hard to win ball. Steele demonstrated some deft running to score two tries in the first half (0-10).
The second half saw York continue their fine play and Toby P (0-15) and Will (0-20) extended the lead. Final score Huddersfield 0-20 York.
Second Game
The first half of the second game commenced in similar fashion, with Steel again scoring two excellent tries (0-10).
Always with an eye for symmetry, Steele also scored two tries in the second half (0-20), then Toby H put one away on a nice swerve through the opposition (0-25). Huddersfield looked to be about to score a try towards the end of the second half, but a superb tackle by Steele prevented that.Final score Huddersfield 0-25 York.
A good weekend for York with only 2 tries against them in four well played games against two big sides. The York forwards worked hard and provided an excellent controlling platform for the backs to demonstrate their running skills. All games were played in a good spirit and with sporting appreciation for everyone’s efforts.
