Alnwick Festival - A Day To Remember!

The forecasted thunder storms saved themselves for Alnwick!

After a coach ride in dry and sunny conditions, torrential rain hit us about 10-15 minutes out of Alnwick! The conditions hadn't changed there since Thursday, so the pitch was 'holding a bit of water'!
We only managed to play one match in the round robin tournament before it was called off -York RUFC played our old foes Pocklington RUFC and came out winners 14-0. Tries from Toby Atkin and Sam Forbes, both converted by Liam Hessay, sealed the win.
A lot of hard work had gone into the organisation of the festival which was due to include a women's and junior tournament, seniors tournament, a family fun day, beer festival and BBQ.
The only things to go ahead were the seniors tournament and the beer festival/BBQ for the players and supporters who braved the elements.
The photographs only give an idea of what the conditions were like; the Percy Park squad had a most unusual way to clean their strip after the tournament - and they posed for a photograph to show that no-one was injured in the shirt cleaning!!
