Discipline

Aim

To ensure the highest level of discipline throughout York RUFC at all levels which will maintain York RUFC as an excellent club to play rugby for and against.

York RUFC takes discipline very seriously and will not tolerate inappropriate behaviour on or off the field.

Red Cards disciplinaries will be dealt with at the appropriate level as defined by the RFU or Yorkshire RFU.

Committee

The club committee will manage all discipline issues efficiently, effectively and fairly. This committee will act as the Yorkshire RFU do following disciplinary guidelines of the RFU.

The committee will discuss all incidents; members with a conflict of interest will sit out. Where further action is required a Disciplinary committee will be formed with a minimum of three members to consider and deal with such incidents.

Procedures

Team captains or managers must report all red cards, yellow cards and disciplinary incidents to the disciplinary officer and club secretary before the end of the day after the incident. Club secretary is to inform Yorkshire RFU of all sending offs. The player and the Team Captain or Manager must apologise to the referee and confirm contact details for the Red Card Report

Following a Red Card the player is banned until the hearing has been held and any time or match sanction spent.

Referee’s report arrives and is circulated to disciplinary committee and player.

Where the Club Disciplinary Committee is authorised to deal with the incident a Face-to-face meeting will be held between the player and disciplinary committee. Note that Adult Red Cards Disciplinaries will normally held direct by Yorkshire RFU.

Disciplinary committee informs player/captain of action (if any) decided by committee following RFU guidelines. These are enforced and submitted to Yorkshire RFU disciplinary committee. Yorkshire RFU will then decide if punishment is appropriate or request appearance by player.

Player has option to appeal the decision of York RUFC by allowing Yorkshire RFU disciplinary to hear report.

The player has choice of whether to attend the Yorkshire RFU disciplinary hearing. There is an administration charge from Yorkshire RFU incurred in this process.

There is an appeals process via Twickenham which incurs further cost.

These fees will not be paid by the club.

All suspensions, counted in weeks, will be immediate from date of meeting unless stated otherwise.
