Hopefully, many supporters of York RUFC will remember New Zealander Paul Williams as a player at the club. A great “10” and a tremendous goal kicker, Paul had over two seasons at the club.
After he returned home, he took up refereeing as part of his work with Sport Taranaki. Spotted and fast tracked by the New Zealand Referees Association, Paul has quickly become one of the top eight referees in New Zealand.

He has been in England for the last few weeks officiating at the U20’s World Cup. Further evidence of Paul’s rise to the top of the tree comes with the news that he will “be in the middle” on Saturday at the RFU U20 World Cup Final at the A J Bell Stadium in Manchester.
