York rugby will come together to celebrate the life of Grant Cockburn and his contribution to rugby across the city.

Grant was a former York player, pulling on the shirt for the York Cavaliers, as well as representing both Rowntrees and RI during his playing days.

To celebrate Grant’s life, York Cavaliers will take on Rowntrees in a special memorial match, with a few familiar faces and players from yesteryear dusting off their boots and taking to the field once again.

This will be a truly friendly game, played in the spirit Grant would have appreciated, and an opportunity for friends, former teammates, supporters and the wider York rugby community to come together and remember him.

Please come down, show your support and help us celebrate Grant’s life.

And if you played alongside Grant over the years — or simply fancy dusting off the boots and having a run out — we’d love to hear from you. Please contact Dan Russell on 07825 190430 if you’d like to play.
