Papa Johns Cup Semi Final Preview

Papa Johns Cup Semi Final Preview

Mark Gronnow2 May 2024 - 22:26

Winner takes all in Halifax

Following last weekend's nailbitting, last play victory over Driffield. The see-saw game at Kelleythorpe was finished with some lovely footwork from Harry Shackleton to score and kick the conversion for a 30-31 win.

That result earns the lads a trip to Heath. The only team to have done the double over us in the league beat Bridgenorth and Rossendale to reach the semi. The lads will be looking to get the win at Greetland. Returning players, injuries and holidays see some shuffling of the York squad from that which travelled to Driffield.

For those heading to Greetland (HX4 8LS), kick off is 3pm, please park considerately as it will be busy and dogs are welcome on a lead.

The winner of Saturday's game will travel to Twickenham next Saturday to take on the winner of Barnstaple and Havant.

Women, colts and 2nd team have no matches this weekend.

Also in the hunt for cup glory are the Cavs on Friday night. 27 hardy souls travel north to Morpeth for their 10th annual vets fest and beer festival. Under the leadership of tour judge Jods and captain Dan York Cavs will feel they are in with a shot of being victorious in the 9 team short format night tournament.
