'Discussions over the odd beer' has led to former players Sam Potrykus, Neil McClure and Rob White forming the 'Past Players Club' which had it's official launch at yesterday's match against Hull RUFC.
The initial launch 'advert' said:
'Whether you played one game or onehundred, you're part of York RUFC's history.
The aim is to reconnect former players,from all generations and aim to bring them back into the fold!'
Former players of any of the clubs teams are welcome to join with the aim of establishing a 'support group' for the club. 51 ex-players responded to the initial piece on the website and have started by sponsoring some of the existing players. All monies raised through subscriptions etc will go to help the club.
Among future plans is to organise a 'trip' to the match at Ilkley in March which will include watching the Wales v England 6 Nations game at a 'local hostelry'.
