Head Coach Lee Denham's idea to raise money for the Three Bears Foundation proved to be a winner after the last home game on Saturday against Otley RUFC.
The Three Bears Foundation was set up following the untimely death of Jane Burn from pancreatic cancer. Set up by Mark, her husband, and son Chris, both members of York CC, their aim was to raise awareness and funds to help find a cure.
Lee had a bespoke set of shirts made for the occasion and they were worn by the team for that last game. Afterwards, Lee acted as auctioneer as all 18 shirts were sold to the highest bidders as the shirt auction was held in bright sunshine in front of York Sports Club.
The highest price paid for a shirt was £300 and when all the 'lots' were sold, a total of £1,400 was raised for the Three Bears Foundation.
