Cup Update plus vets, women and colts in action

A busy week with lots of changing. Following the pull out of Harrogate from the Papa Johns national cup the RFU moved quickly to rebalance home and away fixtures for all teams. This meant our fixture with Driffield was flipped to Clifton Park on 27th April and Blackburn to travel to Driffield on 20th. However, the RFU said anything agreed between the 3 clubs was ok by them.

Following our excellent 22-43 win at Blackburn various discussions were had but unfortunately between Blackburn, Driffield and York Cricket Club we were unable to find a way to play the fixture in York. So the game has been switched to Driffield on 27th 3pm kick off - let’s take a huge following and make it feel like a home game for the lads.

Back to this weekend - the 1s are resting and the 2s season is now complete. On Friday night the Cavs were due to play Scarborough Vets. Due to cup commitments Scarborough have pulled out, no alternative fixture could be found but the vets are having a touch tournament and social. It will also be a leaving do for Scott Turnbull who moves away at the end of the season.

Sunday sees the colts travel to Sheffield in a friendly. The big match of the weekend is the women hosting Hornsea. This game has been postponed since December and is the last game of the season for Dan Young’s squad. After a 17-48 win at Hornsea last month it should be a great game. Kick off is 2pm so get down and support the team.
