York RUFC is developing a new long term Strategic Plan to guide the club through its next chapter, on and off the pitch. The Committee has endorsed the plan and formed a Working Group to lead its development.
Where we stand today
As we approach our second century, we have much to be proud of: our highest ever playing level, a thriving women’s section, a strong junior programme, and excellent facilities. Yet like clubs everywhere, we face real challenges, player recruitment and retention, sustaining adult teams, junior to senior pathways and long term financial sustainability.
Our Goal
The Strategic Plan will create a shared vision for York RUFC, identify our priorities and set out practical actions to strengthen every part of the club. Aligning effort across sections, boosting recruitment/retention and ensuring long term sustainability.
The Planning Process
Our plan will progress through four phases:
1) Assess – Member survey, feedback and analysis
2) Develop – Where are we? Aims and objectives
3) Define – Validate, and agree how we get there
4) Deliver – Endorse, communicate, and launch
How You Can Help
This plan will be shaped by everyone who makes our club what it is, players, coaches, volunteers, parents, members, sponsors, past players and supporters. Over the coming weeks we’ll launch a club wide survey to understand what you value most, what’s working, and where we should focus next. When it arrives, please take a few minutes to complete it and share it with others.
You can also share ideas with a working group member:
| Area | Representative |
| Senior Men | Toby Atkin |
| Senior Women | Annabel Cooper / Daisy Sams |
| Youth, Junior & Minis | James Arkle |
| Past Players | Sam Potrykus |
| Sponsorship & Funding | Tom Frank |
| Operations & Finance | Paul Simpson |
| Strategic Support/VPs | Mark Davies |
| Survey Manager | Oren Davies |
| Initiative Lead | Huw Kane |
This is your opportunity to shape York RUFC’s next chapter.
