According to the York RUFC History, York played in the first ever Yorkshire County Cup Challenge final in 1878 losing out to Halifax. This was the forerunner to the current day Yorkshire Cup and was in the days prior to the Union and League split which resulted in York RUFC being formed in 1926. Since that first 1878 final York have never appeared in the final since.
So, we have already made history by qualifying for this years final and look to go one better by getting our name on the 't'old tin pot' when we play in this years Final against Cleckheaton on Saturday 24th May at The John Charles Stadium, Middleton Grove, Leeds LS11 5DJ.
