GIVEN the gale which howled around the hosts’ ground, York Rugby Union Club were satisfied with sharing the spoils from a 7-7 Yorkshire League division one deadlock.
Backed by the raging elements, York took the lead with a try from Dave Ellershaw to mark his promotion from the seconds at full-back in place of Alex Nixon. Paul Williams kicked the conversion.
Both sides struggled to move the ball around because of the strong wind, but York’s defence was finally broken in the second half for a converted try.
For the visitors, Willem Enslin, back in the firsts from the seconds, shone in the back row.
