IN-FORM York RUFC leapfrogged Yorkshire One opponents Castleford with a stunning 40-0 victory at Clifton Park.
The home side turned in a faultless performance against their promotion rivals to move up to third in the table with five wins from seven games.
York started well and asserted themselves well at the breakdown, earning a penalty which Paul Williams kicked to give them a 3-0 lead.
A superb solo try from Billy Cakaunitabua gave York an 8-0 lead and, following a great forward drive, Willem Enslin went over.
Castleford lost former York fly-half Carl Paterson to injury after a thunderous crash ball from home centre Sam Potrykus.
Two more penalties from Williams gave York a 19-0 interval lead.
Man of the match Arran Thompson was connecting the forwards and backs effortlessly at scrum-half and York’s pack upped the ante with Stu Davies, Jon Sharpe and Grant Williams putting in big performances.
Jack Browing and Williams kept the big Cas pack moving around with intelligent kicking and both Sam Arkle and Potrykus in the centres put huge pressure on the Cas backline.
Rory Thompson scored a try from his own half to extend the lead further and Cakaunitabua rounded off the try fest with a pacy finish from 40 yards.
Williams added further kicks to send Clifton Park into raptures at the quality of the performance.
