A RUN of 27 unanswered points from hosts Bradford Salem left York RUFC shell-shocked in Yorkshire One.
The Clifton Park club looked to be heading for a rare away victory over their West Yorkshire hosts as they led 18-0 at the interval.
However, the home side hit back to win the game 27-21 and deny York the chance to leapfrog them into second place in the table.
Returning winger Alex Nixon ran the length of the field to score York’s opening try and Mike Westwood then crossed in the corner. Paul Williams kicked one conversion and added two penalties to put his side in control at half-time.
York then shot themselves in the foot and gave away 27 unanswered points before Williams added another penalty.
York will be disappointed, but they will have to pick themselves up for the stern test of Bridlington next saturday.
York ‘A’ lost 20-8 against a good Sheffield Tigers side, with James Geldart making a successful return nine months after dislocating his hip.
